Driving lessonsBallymun
Learning to drive starts with the theory test and a learner permit. After that, we take you from your front door in Ballymun all the way to the Finglas test centre, about seven minutes away.
Learn with us in Ballymun
Here is how our driving lessons in Ballymun work, from booking to the test. Every point below is part of the standard lesson.
Door to door, no extra cost
Your instructor arrives at your home, at Saint Aidans CBS or at work in Ballymun, and drops you back after. It is part of the lesson fee, and the full hour is spent behind the wheel.
Taught by RSA-approved instructors
Your instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA and trained by former driving testers. Dual controls in the car mean you are never on your own.
Lessons without pressure
If driving makes you nervous, tell us at the start. We keep lessons in Ballymun calm and steady, and nobody shouts at you, whatever happens.
We say when you are ready
There is no point paying for hours you do not need. When you are ready for the test, you hear it from us, and if you are not, you hear exactly what is missing.
Pick manual or automatic
Both are on offer in Ballymun, for EDT and pretest. A manual pass covers you for both kinds of car, while an automatic pass carries code 78 and limits you to automatics.
The right instructor for you
We match each learner with an instructor. If you would feel more comfortable with a woman, request a female instructor and we will arrange it.

Manual driving lessons Ballymun
With a manual, you learn the clutch, the gears and hill starts, and the licence you earn lets you drive anything. Ballymun lessons start with moving off and stopping, then build to junctions and lane discipline. Lessons take in Ballymun Road early on, and you will drive on Santry Avenue as your control improves. A single manual lesson is €53.27 with collection included, so you pay for an hour of driving and get an hour of driving.
Book manual lessons ↗Automatic driving lessons Ballymun
Automatic driving lessons in Ballymun are €61.41 each. Taking the clutch away leaves you free to concentrate on observation, speed and road position. The automatic EDT course is €659.24. Before you choose, know that an automatic pass leads to a code 78 licence, which restricts you to automatic cars. If you later want to drive a manual, you would need to pass the test again in one.

EDT lessons in Ballymun
Once you hold a learner permit, the next step is EDT, 12 set lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor. You must complete all of them before you can sit the driving test, and your instructor signs your logbook after each one. The manual course costs €587.95, and the automatic one €659.24.
We collect you for every EDT lesson, from home, from PACE Training Centre or from your workplace. If you already hold a licence from some other countries, you may qualify for a shorter six lesson course, so mention it when you first call.
What the EDT covers ↗From Ballymun to your driving test
Finglas is the nearest centre to Ballymun, 3.6 km by road and about 7 minutes. Killester is 6.2 km, around 11 minutes. Raheny is 7.5 km and Mulhuddart (Maple House) is 8.3 km, both about 14 minutes. If Finglas has a long wait, a centre further out may give you an earlier date.
Before the test, book a pretest lesson. You get an hour on the roads around the centre, and the fee also covers hiring the car for the test itself, the same car you practised in, so you already know how it handles. Pretest costs €183.63 in a manual or €193.81 in an automatic.
Ballymun roads and pick-up points
There is no rail station near Ballymun, which is one more reason the pick-up matters. Your instructor collects you at home or at a place you agree, such as Santry Community Resource Centre, and the lesson starts there. At the end of the hour you are dropped back, so there is no wait for a bus.
Lessons take in Collins Avenue Extension once you can handle junctions, and later Swords Road, where you practise holding your lane and judging gaps. We build up to these roads step by step with you, so nothing feels rushed and each new road comes when you are truly ready for it.
Shops make handy meeting points if home is awkward. We can meet you at Lidl, Northwood, or at Eurospar, Meakstown Commercial Centre, and drop you back home after. Learners in Santry and Whitehall get the same service and the same prices, and each area has its own page on this site. Call if you are not sure we reach your street.

The EDT: a guide
Think of the logbook as your progress record. Twelve lessons, twelve signatures, and then you can sit the test. Beside it in the photo is the test sheet, which lists what a tester marks. We walk Ballymun learners through it early on, so the day of the test itself feels familiar.
