Driving lessonsWhitehall
If you commute, lessons can start where your day ends, at work or off the train, and finish at your door in Whitehall. You pay for an hour and you drive for an hour.
Learning to drive from Whitehall
Fitting driving lessons in Whitehall around a job or college is easier when nobody has to travel to the car. Tell us where you will be and your instructor will meet you there.
Collected after work
We can collect you from your workplace, from college or from Drumcondra station, then drop you home in Whitehall. Pick-up and drop-off cost nothing on top of the lesson.
RSA-approved instructors
Each instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, trained by former driving testers, and teaches in a dual-controlled car. You learn from someone who knows how a driving test is assessed.
Patient, quiet teaching
Shouting has no place in our cars, in Whitehall or anywhere else. If driving makes you anxious, your instructor keeps things calm and moves at a pace you can manage.
No extra hours sold
We judge your readiness honestly. Ready means we say so and you book. Not ready means we show you the gaps, rather than adding lessons for the sake of it.
Manual, automatic, your call
Both are taught in Whitehall. A manual licence lets you drive any car, while an automatic test pass puts code 78 on your licence and keeps you in automatics.
Matched to suit you
We pair you with an instructor based on what you need, and you can ask for a female instructor if that would put you more at ease.

Manual driving lessons Whitehall
Manual lessons lead to the licence with no gearbox restriction, which matters if the car you will use, or might borrow, has a clutch. We start with the basics near wherever you were collected, then lessons take in Griffith Avenue and Collins Avenue as your gear changes get smoother. Later you will drive the Swords Road too. One manual lesson is €53.27, and the full manual EDT course is €587.95.
Book manual lessons ↗Automatic driving lessons Whitehall
Automatic driving lessons in Whitehall make sense if you only ever plan to drive an automatic, or if the clutch is holding you back. Without gears to think about, more of each hour goes on reading the road ahead. An automatic pass does come with a limit, code 78, meaning automatics only. Single lessons are €61.41, and the 12-lesson automatic EDT is €659.24.

EDT lessons in Whitehall
Essential Driver Training, or EDT, is the RSA's set course of 12 lessons for learner permit holders. You must finish it with an Approved Driving Instructor before you can sit the test, and your instructor signs each lesson off in your logbook. Holders of some foreign licences can do a reduced six-lesson course instead.
If you work in town, your EDT lessons can fit around your commute, with a pick-up at Drumcondra station or Clontarf Road station and a drop-off at home in Whitehall. The manual course of twelve comes to €587.95, and the automatic course to €659.24.
What the EDT covers ↗Your driving test from Whitehall
Killester is the closest centre to Whitehall, 3.8 km by road and about 7 minutes. Finglas is close behind at 4.4 km, about 8 minutes, and Raheny is 5.1 km, about 10 minutes. Mulhuddart (Maple House) is further at 9.1 km, around 15 minutes, but can be worth it if it offers an earlier date.
With Killester and Finglas a minute apart, you are free to go for the earlier date rather than the nearer centre. Your pretest lesson then gives you an hour on the roads around that centre, and the same car is yours for the test. Expect to pay €183.63 for this in a manual, or €193.81 in an automatic.
Lessons around Whitehall
Most first lessons start from home in Whitehall, but they do not have to. A meeting point such as the Tesco on the Swords Road works too, if that is easier for you to reach. Early hours go on control of the car itself, so steering, braking and looking around you become second nature.
As your skills grow, lessons take in Griffith Avenue and Collins Avenue, then the Swords Road. School students can be collected from Rosmini Community School or Scoil Chaitríona after class. Because pick-up is part of every lesson, you do not need a lift to get to the car. Your instructor plans each route to stretch you a little further than the last.
Neighbouring areas with their own pages on this site include Beaumont and Glasnevin. If you live in Whitehall but study or work in either, your instructor can collect you there and bring you home, so the lesson fits the day you already have. Just give us both addresses when you book.

The EDT: a guide
Each of your 12 EDT lessons is recorded in a logbook, and your instructor signs the entry once the lesson is done. Keep it safe, because you will need it before your test. When the logbook is full, a pretest lesson around Killester, Finglas or Raheny is usually the last step before test day.
