What to expect in Drumcondra lessons
If you are looking for a driving school in Drumcondra, the basics matter more than the slogans. This is what comes with every lesson.
Collected wherever you are
Work in town? We can collect you near Dublin Connolly station, from Drumcondra station, or from home or college. Pick-up and drop-off cost nothing extra.
Former testers trained them
The instructors you learn with are RSA-approved and were trained by former driving testers, so they know what a test looks for. Every car is dual-controlled.
Quiet, steady lessons
Nervous drivers in Drumcondra get a calm instructor and a slower start if they need it. Nobody in our cars shouts at a learner, ever.
No extra hours sold
Our job is to get you to test standard, not to keep you booking. If you are ready we tell you, and if not, we spell out what is left to fix.
Manual and automatic both
Learners in Drumcondra can take EDT and pretest in either car. Pass in a manual and you may drive both types; pass in an automatic and you hold a code 78, automatic-only licence.
Female instructor if you prefer
Ask for a female instructor and we will arrange one. Otherwise we match you with an instructor based on what you tell us when you book.

Manual driving lessons Drumcondra
Learning in a manual means a licence with no limits on the car you drive later. In Drumcondra, first lessons cover clutch control, gears and moving off, then junctions and roundabouts. You will drive on Clonliffe Road and Drumcondra Road Lower as you progress, and Griffith Avenue once your gear changes are smooth. A single manual lesson costs €53.27, and the 12-lesson EDT course is €587.95, both with collection included.
Book manual lessons ↗Automatic driving lessons Drumcondra
Automatic driving lessons in Drumcondra suit anyone who would rather not deal with a clutch. You concentrate on reading the road, signalling and keeping your position. A lesson is €61.41, the EDT course €659.24 and pretest with car hire €193.81. An automatic pass gives a code 78 licence, so you would need a manual test later to drive a manual car.

EDT lessons in Drumcondra
The EDT programme is 12 fixed lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, and you must finish all of them before the test. Each one is signed in your logbook once it is completed. From Drumcondra we can collect you at home, at college or at work, so each lesson slots into your day.
Holders of some foreign licences can do a reduced course of six lessons. Whichever you do, the later lessons are a chance to try the roads near Killester or Finglas, depending on where you plan to sit the test. Manual EDT is €587.95 and automatic is €659.24.
What the EDT covers ↗Killester or Finglas for your test
Killester is 4.9 km by road from Drumcondra, about 8 minutes. Finglas is 4.8 km, about 9 minutes, so the two are nearly level. Raheny is 6.1 km at about 11 minutes, and Mulhuddart (Maple House) is 9.2 km at about 14. Applying to whichever has the earlier date can get you tested sooner.
Once you have a date, book a pretest. It is an hour on the roads around that centre, plus car hire for the test, and you sit the test in the car you just practised in. A manual pretest is €183.63 and an automatic is €193.81, with no booking fee on either.
Drumcondra roads you will learn on
We begin near your pick-up point with the basics. Over the following weeks, lessons take in Collins Avenue and Griffith Avenue, where you practise keeping a steady speed, checking mirrors and planning lane changes early. Your instructor adds a new road only when the last one starts to feel routine.
If it is easier, meet us at Drumcondra station or near Dublin Connolly station instead of at home. Students at Rosmini Community School can be collected straight after school finishes. Because drop-off is included, the lesson can end somewhere different from where it started, such as home after a pick-up at work.
Glasnevin and Cabra are close neighbours of Drumcondra, and each has its own page on this site. Lessons there are run the same way, by the same instructors, at exactly the same prices. If you are unsure which page fits your address, call and ask us, and we will sort out where to meet you.

The EDT: a guide
The logbook in this photo is what your EDT looks like as it fills up, one signature per lesson. Next to it is a test sheet, the form a tester marks on the day. We show Drumcondra learners both early, so you know what is being checked long before you sit the test.
