EDT lessons in Finglas
Essential Driver Training, or EDT, is the 12 set lessons every learner permit holder must complete before the driving test. You do them with an Approved Driving Instructor, and each one is signed off in your logbook the day you finish it.
For a learner in Finglas, the full EDT course is €587.95 in a manual or €659.24 in an automatic. With the test centre so near, much of your EDT will be driven close to the place where you will later sit the test. Holders of some foreign licences can do a shorter six-lesson version instead.

The next nearest is Mulhuddart (Maple House) at 5.6 km, around 9 minutes, then Killester at 8 km and Raheny at 9.3 km. If Finglas has no date that suits you, one of those further centres may offer an earlier slot.
Book your pretest once the date is in. That is an hour driving the routes around the centre, followed by hire of the same car for the test, so nothing about the car is new on the day. The pretest, car hire included, is €183.63 manual and €193.81 automatic. With the centre this close, the drive from your door to the start of the pretest is a short one.
Learning on Finglas roads
Early lessons stay close to home, with plenty of time on moving off, junctions and parking. As you progress you will drive on Saint Margaret's Road and Seamus Ennis Road, getting used to holding your lane and keeping a steady speed. Your instructor decides when to add each new road, based on how the last lesson went, so nothing is rushed.
If home is not the easiest place to start, we can meet you at Broombridge station or Pelletstown station instead. Another option is outside Clearwater Shopping Centre, or wherever you work. Just tell us the spot when you book and your instructor will be waiting there at the agreed time.
We also teach in Ballymun and Cabra, both close to Finglas, at about 2.2 km and 2.5 km in a straight line. If you live in one and work in another, your instructor can collect you from whichever end of the day is handier. The price and the pick-up are the same in all three.
