Driving lessonsCoolock
We collect you from your door, your school or your work in Coolock, and the hour you pay for is an hour behind the wheel. Two test centres are less than ten minutes away by road.
Why Coolock learners book with us
Most of our driving lessons in Coolock start wherever you already are, so a lesson fits around school, college or a shift.
Collected where you are
Tell us where to meet you: home in Coolock, St David's CBS after class, or the Tesco on Malahide Road after work. Pick-up and drop-off are part of the lesson price.
Approved and properly trained
Every instructor holds RSA Approved Driving Instructor status and learned to teach from people who used to conduct driving tests. You learn in a dual-controlled car from the very first lesson.
No raised voices
Nobody shouts in our cars. If you are nervous, we keep the first Coolock lessons slow and quiet, and you move on to Malahide Road only when you say you feel comfortable.
An honest word on readiness
Before you book a date at Killester or Raheny, we tell you plainly if you are ready. If something is missing we name it, and we never pad out your lessons with extra hours.
Manual or automatic, your call
Both are taught in Coolock. Pass in a manual and you may drive either type of car; pass in an automatic and your licence is limited to automatics, marked code 78.
An instructor who suits you
When you get in touch we match you with an instructor, and you can ask for a female instructor if you would prefer one.

Manual driving lessons Coolock
Manual lessons in Coolock begin with the basics: clutch control, moving off and stopping smoothly on side roads near where we collect you. As your control improves, lessons take in Malahide Road and Collins Avenue East, where you work on lane choice, mirror checks and junctions. A manual pass is the more flexible licence, because it covers automatic cars as well. A single manual lesson costs €53.27, and the 12-lesson EDT course in a manual is €587.95.
Book manual lessons ↗Automatic driving lessons Coolock
Our automatic driving lessons in Coolock suit anyone who wants to put their attention on the road rather than on the gears. There is no clutch to stall, which means one less thing to think about at every junction. The trade-off is the licence: an automatic pass is marked code 78 and covers automatic cars only. A single automatic lesson costs €61.41, and the full EDT course in an automatic is €659.24.

Coolock driving lesson prices
Coolock pays the same as every other area we cover. There is no booking fee, we never ask for a card on file, and you can pay online or over the phone.
EDT lessons in Coolock
If you hold a learner permit, you must finish Essential Driver Training before you can sit the test. That means 12 set lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, and each one is signed off in your logbook once you complete it. In Coolock, every EDT lesson can start from home, school or work, so the full hour is spent driving.
Some learners who already hold certain foreign licences only need six EDT lessons rather than 12. If that may be you, mention the licence when you call 01 902 3100 and we will check which course applies. You can book a single lesson between EDT sessions if you want more time on one skill.
What the EDT covers ↗Your driving test from Coolock
Killester is the nearest test centre to Coolock, 2.5 km and about 5 minutes by road. Raheny is close behind at 3.1 km, roughly 6 minutes away. With two centres this near, one may well have an earlier date than the other. Finglas, at 7.7 km and around 13 minutes, and Churchtown, at 14.3 km and about 25 minutes, are further options if both are booked up.
Before the day, book a pretest lesson. That is one hour driving the roads around your chosen test centre, plus hire of the same car for the test, so you sit it in the car you practised in. Pretest with car hire is €183.63 in a manual and €193.81 in an automatic.
Learning on the roads around Coolock
Early lessons stay close to where we pick you up. As you progress, you will drive on Malahide Road and Collins Avenue East, then Howth Road and Raheny Road as you get nearer to test standard. Your instructor picks the order based on what you need to practise next, not on a fixed plan.
Home is not the only place to start. We can collect you from Harmonstown station if you are coming back from somewhere, and students at Ardscoil La Salle can be picked up after school and dropped home at the end of the hour. Tell us the spot when you book and your instructor will meet you there.
Artane is only 0.8 km from Coolock, and Raheny and Killester are each about 2 km away. All three have their own pages on this site, and lessons there run on the same terms as here: one price list, pick-up included, manual or automatic. If you live in one and study or work in another, your lesson can start at one address and finish at the other.

The EDT: a guide
The logbook is the written record of your EDT. After each of the 12 lessons your instructor signs the entry, so you can see at a glance how many are done and how many are left. Have it with you at every lesson in Coolock. Once all 12 are signed and your instructor says you are ready, apply for your test and book a pretest.
What we teach ↗ All lesson prices ↗A few good questions.
Can you pick me up from school in Coolock?
Yes. Pick-up from home, school, college or work is included in the lesson price, so a lesson can start at the school gate in Coolock and end at your front door. Tell us the time and place when you book and we will plan the hour around it.
Is there a driving school in Coolock that teaches automatic?
We teach both manual and automatic in Coolock, for EDT and pretest alike. An automatic lesson is €61.41. Keep in mind that passing in an automatic gives you a code 78 licence, which means automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both.
Should I take my test in Killester or Raheny?
Both are within about 6 minutes of Coolock, so pick whichever offers the earlier date. Your pretest lesson is then spent on the routes around that centre, and you sit the test in the same car you used for the pretest.
What should I sort out before my first Coolock lesson?
First pass your theory test, then get your learner permit from the NDLS. After that, fill in the form on this page or call 01 902 3100, and we will match you with an instructor who can collect you in Coolock.
